Delportshoop - The Brangus SA Torch of Hope is headed to the farm At Last in the Barkly West District as part of the Northern Cape leg of a countrywide tour.
This will be during a cattle information day taking place at the farm of Northern Cape Red Meat Producer’s Organisation Chairperson, James Faber, on Tuesday April 5.
The theme for the day is how to handle the drought and will include speakers such as agricultural economist Johan Willemse, Mias van der Westhuizen and Brangus SA Breed Director, John Rafferty.
The event gets underway from 10am and there is no charge, but attendance must be confirmed prior to the time to allow organisers to finalise catering arrangements.
The Torch of Hope tour will meanwhile stop off at several other Northern Cape destinations next week. Gerda le Roux, who is part of the tour group, outlines the programme:
“On Sunday the Brangus people will have a church service with the people of the area (Griekwastad). Then we head to Kimberley, Borrelskop is close to Kimberley, on the 4th of April. The 5th of April we will be at James Faber in Delportshoop.
“Then on the 7th of April Carlo van der Westhuizen will be at the Hoër Landbouskool Noord-Kaap in Jan Kempdorp and we will join them there. Then on the 8th of April we go to Christiana.”
