Los Angeles - Justin Bieber has shown off his 52nd tattoo.

The Sorry hitmaker took to Instagram to reveal the latest addition to his collection of body art, a pair of wings on the back of his neck, close to the word 'Patience', which he had inked some time ago.

He simply captioned the image - a back view of himself looking in a mirror - with the words: "New tattoo :) (sic)"

According to TMZ, the 21-year-old was craving new ink so much that he got the wings in the middle of the night.

Convinced that he needed the tattoo after a night out, Justin got his crew to call up tattoo artist Dan Price to come to The Villa Casa Casuarina, formally known as the Versace Mansion, where he was staying and tattoo him.

It was a 3 hour procedure.
