Weird Wide Web - Sixth sense: The man who tastes words | News Article
Henry Gray can taste words

Usually, when one mentions taste, we automatically think some for of object one can see and put into your mouth to taste. But what if we told you this guy can taste words?

Dailystar recently reported on a story we didn't we'd ever come across, a man who can taste words. Henry Gray has a rare neurological condition called lexical-gustatory synaesthesia, which means he can taste and smell words. He even had to move out because of his flat mate's words did not taste good.

It's not unusual to base your opinion on someone from a first impression. But for Henry Gray the original introduction to someone really does matter – because he can taste and smell their name.

Back in 2009, the lad was diagnosed lexical-gustatory synaesthesia after his parents and teachers found that he would make comments about the 'tastes' of his classmate’s names. And they are not all appetising.

He even had to move out of student accommodation because of his flatmates had names that were not too pleasing on the palate due to his rare condition. Now 23-years-old, Henry is a barman and regularly posts on TikTok where he shares his experience of the neurological disorder.

In a recent clip that has racked up thousands of views, the lad responded to a comment from an intrigued user who asked if he would still be friends with someone if their name tasted and smelled "awful".

"No, I wouldn't", Henry brutally admitted. Read more on this story on dailystar's website by clicking here.
